US Representative Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., refused to respond to a request from a Minnesota committee seeking more information on her ties to the massive fraud scandal in the state that is predominantly Somalian, prompting a subpoena vote that failed.

A Minnesota State representative said, “We have endeavored in multiple ways to get access to [information] because, as everyone knows, Representative Omar had had some role, whether inadvertent or not. She passed the MEALS Act in March of 2020, and that took the guardrails off the federal school nutrition program, which created the conditions for fraud.”

Omar has been in the news in recent weeks over an “accounting error” in which she claimed her husband was worth millions, but amended her financial disclosure filing and now claims their assets are worth less than $95,000 after the filing came under scrutiny. His wine business has been shuttered.

Ilhan Omar is refusing to turn over documents to a Minnesota committee investigating the $250 MILLION Somali “Feeding Our Future” fraud.

According to Google AI:

The Safari Restaurant in Minneapolis was a major site in the Feeding Our Future network, receiving over $16 million in federal child nutrition funds, with its operators accused of serving as a top sponsor for fraudulent meal sites. In 2020, Omar appeared in a video for Somali TV promoting the program and thanking Safari Restaurant for distributing meals, a clip resurfaced during 2026 hearings. Records show Omar’s campaign spent nearly $10,000 at Safari Restaurant from 2018 to 2020.

Republican lawmakers accused Omar of facilitating the fraud by introducing the “Maintaining Essential Access to Lunch for Students (MEALS) Act” in 2020, which relaxed eligibility rules for federal meal programs.

Ilhan Omar was in the news a few weeks ago when it was revealed that her financial disclosure filing in May 2025 listed her husband, Tim Mynett, had a stake in a D.C. venture firm and California winery valued between $6 million to $30 million. That is a big jump compared to last year when he claimed his ownership in the two companies was valued at $51,000.

Ilhan Omar amended her financial disclosure and the couple’s assets are now valued between $18,004 to $95,000. She blamed an accounting error.

It was reported that eStCru Wine, in which Omar’s husband, Tim Mynett, held a stake, shut its doors on April 4, 2026.

This critic on X suggested that the eStCru Wine company was an elaborate scheme by Omar and her husband to monetize her political office under the cover of a “business.” He added, “…when your net worth is basically 0, then you set up a winery that doesn’t produce wine and your net worth is $30 million, and then your net worth is again nil and you blame it on your accountant – something more is going on.”

Several years ago, Tim Mynett, Omar’s third husband, received $635,000 of Coronavirus relief money for his political consulting firm on top of the $2 million Ilhan Omar paid from her campaign.

Recently, Trump gave a speech, called her a “phony” and “despicable” and said that she married her brother illegally for immigration purposes.

Trump: “Somalia, it’s a beautiful place. It’s got no anything. It’s got one thing that’s really strong — crime. All they do is run around shooting each other. It’s filthy dirty, disgusting dirty. It’s a horrible place. They come here, and Ilhan Omar, she heads it. She married… pic.twitter.com/CSVDeHFhLC

It was reported years ago that DNA evidence shows that Ilhan Omar did marry her brother.

Ilhan Omar was borne in Somalia and her father and grandfather were reported to be were both high-ranking military officials in the Barre regime, which killed over 200,000 people. There was a civil war and her family fled first to Kenya and then Minnesota, claiming to be asylum seekers.
